This work was created for eLife, a non-profit organisation inspired by research funders and led by scientists. This artwork was designed for a series of articles discussing the method by which funding agencies, journals and universities review papers, grant applications and people. 

The pros and cons of peer review

The artwork shows the peer review process within the life science sector. Scientists are reading out their papers while their peers are discussing the feasibility and validity of the experimental design, quality of data and potential errors. The artwork highlights the ways in which the peer review process can be further improved in order to reduce bias, increase transparency and respond to author preferences.
