Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the nervous system.

This autoimmune attack results in damage to the myelin-sheath which surrounds and insulates the axons of neurons. Multiple Sclerosis is not considered to be primarily the result of genetic mutations, though genetic factors are thought to be related. Other factors which are thought to be related include: vitamin D deficiency, Smoking (particularly its effects on the immune system) and viral causes.
