Diabetes is a serious condition that is related to the body’s inability to control its blood sugar level. This can lead to dangerously high (hyperglycaemic) and low levels (hypoglycaemic) of glucose in the blood.
Insulin is a peptide hormone, produced by the pancreas it controls processes all related to the storage and metabolism of glucose. Type 1 diabetes is a condition where the pancreatic cells that produce insulin are destroyed by an autoimmune process, to correct this disease the hormone must be injected directly. The other form is Type 2, which is induced by over consumption of high sugar foods and rinks. This leads to the pancreatic cells not producing enough insulin and/or the body cells not responding to insulin.
